A Celebration of Veterans Day 2022

Mark Minton

Mark Minton currently serves as President of the Cornell Undergraduate Veterans Association. He is a Senior in the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Urban and Regional Studies. He joined the Cornell community in 2020 after thirteen years of active military service in the United States Army. Though currently serving in the Army Reserves, Mark’s military career includes multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as serving on staff at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. His awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Meritorious Service Medal, the Albanian Military Service Medal, and the Four Days Marching Cross of the Netherlands with crown device. Mark serves as a Foreign Service Officer Intern with the Department of State, Bureau of Economics with a focus in International Development Finance. For the past two years, he has served as Director of the Sustainable Education project team which designs carbon-neutral schools and dormitories across the global south. Mark’s areas of research include the economic resilience of marginalized communities and the efficacy of multilateral development bank aid and assistance packages. After graduation, he plans on pursuing a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning and service as a career diplomat.

Mark will share his journey to Cornell and is thoughts on the continuation of service, whether it be in the military, interagency work, NGO's , or other opportunities for service, and the skills that can carry you through a lifetime.

11:00 am: Mark Minton, President of the Cornell Undergraduate Veterans, "Continuation of Service" (30 minutes)

12:00 - 3:00 pm: Military Appreciation Luncheon, Barton Hall (open only to the Cornell community; sponsored by Cornell Student Veterans Association)
