Cornell Takes A Stand Against Domestic Violence
Cornell recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM) and is participating in New York State's "Go Purple Day."
Thursday, October 17, 2024
All employees are invited to participate in “Go Purple Day” by showing support for victims of domestic violence.
Here are ways you can join Cornell in taking a stand against domestic violence:
- Wear purple on Thursday, October 17.
- Wear a purple awareness ribbon (ribbons and domestic violence awareness materials may be picked up at 130 Day Hall, or contact worklife@cornell.edu).
- Listen to the Inclusive Excellence Podcast episode about domestic violence (read about it here).
- Download the Zoom background for DVAM and use it throughout the month.
- Pledge to stand against domestic violence by completing this Pledge Form (share your pledge if you are comfortable doing so – post in your office, on social media, email to Work/Life, etc.).
- Donate to the Emergency CARE Fund which offers financial support to employees in crisis (in the past year, five employees experiencing domestic violence received support). Unused Appreciation Portal Points can be donated to the Fund!
- Bookmark Cornell’s Domestic Violence Resource Page and managers, bookmark Cornell’s Guide to Domestic Violence at the Workplace.
