[Auto-generated.] Hello, everyone. My name is Mary Meehan. I am the national account director with Arag. And today I'm going to be doing a presentation on the drug legal insurance that is offered as part of your voluntary benefits. So in the presentation, we'll look at what legal, you know, what legal troubles might happen. They're really much more common than you think. We'll look at reasons why you may want to consider enrolling. How much it's cost, who can be covered? How easy it is to use the plan. And there are some additional services that are included in your plan that we'll take a look at as well too. And then I have a section of some frequently asked questions. And then if you have any questions, you can put it in the chat. And your team will get those questions to us and we'll be able to respond back to those. So legal troubles are really much more common. And, you know, it's more like everyday life. Life events happen, things are going to occur. But really, about three out of four people in the past year has have faced a legal issue. So it really is far more common than you really think it is. But there are, you know, again, common everyday life occurrences that can pop up, in our pretty much everyone's daily life.
these are just some kind of examples of some legal issues, or legal troubles that have occurred, or can occur in your life. So you're working with the contractor and they ghost, you know, to remodel. What do you do? What what is your, legal what are your legal rights? What where can you go? How can that be addressed? An attorney can certainly help you with that. You need a contract renewed so long as it's nothing related to the university. Any employment related. If you've got a contract, elsewhere, it will be able to take a look at that and assist you if you're getting audited by the IRS. And we can assist with that. The ever popular get a traffic ticket, either you or your children, your spouse get a traffic ticket. That's something that the legal plan can help you with as well, too. All of these things are just sort of everyday life. It doesn't, you know, they're not really, you know, super serious. But the plan does cover quite a few different things. Our is an insurance company. So the plan, that we have is a policy and there are endorsements. So the 100 plus ways, those are endorsements that are covered by the legal plan.
reasons why you may want to enroll. So when you use the legal insurance plan you're working with a network of attorneys. So similar to a medical plan or medical PPO where you have a network of doctors that are assisting you here, you have a network of attorneys that are helping with your legal issues. And when you use a network attorney, the plan typically will cover most of the legal services. The between the attorney, the attorney fees for most legal matters. So you're not paying the out-of-pocket, cost for the attorney. The hourly rate for the attorney family law areas typically will have some hour caps, but pretty much everything else is going to that's covered by the plan will be paid in full. The certificate of insurance lays all of that out for you. So if you have any questions about that, you can always take a look at, the plan on our website. That'll give you a list of services and to what extent they're covered. So when you're working with a network attorney and those things are paid in full, again, you're not paying their hourly rate. So generally you can save thousands of dollars on average. For one legal issue. We do have DOJ docs is very simple to use. You can create them sort of like a mail merge thing where you it'll ask you some questions, then it'll merge together and give you a document. They are state specific. So depending on what state you put in that you want the document created for those guidelines and those regulations for that particular state will apply to that document. You put it all together, print it out, and then you can have it notarized. And then it's a legal, valid document. We are going to connect you with attorneys that are part of our network. Many of them have an average of 20 plus years. So these are, you know, not brand new attorneys. These are seasoned professionals that have been working in the legal field for quite a while. You can address your covered legal matters by speaking again with a network attorney. You can do that over the telephone. So in each state we have a firm that just answers phone calls for quick questions. A lot of times you can talk with an attorney over the phone. That's a general practice attorney. You can also work with an attorney virtually. And many courts are still doing virtual proceedings. So the attorney is going to work with you throughout your covered legal matter. So they're not just going to point you in a direction and push you off. They will assist you all the way through. They can prepare documents, review documents, offer legal advice and represent you in court all the way through trial if necessary. So with the example with the traffic ticket, get a traffic ticket. If you want to fight that, you can go to court. The attorney will negotiate with the prosecutor potentially get that, you know, knocked down for you. At the end of the day, they're going to represent you. That would be completely covered by the plan. Now, if you get a court cost or a fine, that is still going to be your responsibility. But for the attorney to represent you, for that matter, will be covered by the plan.
The cost of the plan is $23.25 monthly, or $10.73 biweekly, and $11.63. So my monthly, it does cover you, your spouse and domestic partner and children that are, until the age to the end of the plan year when they turn 26, regardless of student or marital status. So you can use that for all of those individuals. Now using the plan is very easy. You can use it in multiple, multiple ways. We have a member portal that you can go to. So you can log to your member portal and you can start a case through that. You can use our mobile app or you can call customer care. So either either of those ways, you're going to be asked series of questions and they could be personal in nature, but it's really just to quantify or qualify what your legal issue is. To be able to tell you to what extent the matter's covered and also to get you to the right type of an attorney. So we'll ask you some questions. Figure that out, and then you'll receive a list of attorneys that are local to you, that can assist you with it. Again, they can talk with you and you can meet with them in their office. You can meet with them virtually, or you can talk to them over the telephone. So very simple to use. If you ever have any, you know, concerns or questions related to that, always go back to customer care. If you have a list of attorneys and someone isn't calling you back, please let us know. You know, sometimes attorneys are these are general practicing attorneys. They have, practices outside of just assisting us so they could be in court. They could be, you know, on vacation. It could be a variety of things. But if you have difficulty getting connected with them, always please come back to customer care to let us know, because we can't help you unless we know there's an issue.
So a couple of the additional services that are included in your plan. We do have financial education and counseling. You can work with a professional that will assist you with, you know, debt management issues, budgeting, insurance, education on all of these things is really a great resource for your for your kids as they go, you know, into the workforce or is there, you know, going to college just to kind of help them along the way with budgeting and those sorts of things? Just to get them a, you know, a good base for them to kick them off, in their future. And then we also have services for parents or grandparents. So we have a caregiving service team, that you can work with, a care count care coach, they'll assist you with questions and help you with, you know, facilities and answer any questions that you have related to that. There's also digital, materials and support tools that are available to you. We have a library that has a lot of information on, you know, care, education, becoming a caregiver or medication. There's a medication provider track or, you can also, it's not just limited to use. So if you have, you know, you're working with, say you're working with your mother and you have to, you know, she's to the point where she needs assistance and you have a sister and brother that also want to be involved in it. They can once you signed up for it and created a profile, they can also you can also give them access to that as well too, so they can ask questions. So it's not just limited to you. So it's really a nice tool that's available to assist you with that. Caregiving. Aspect of things can be very complicated. then if you have any questions again, related to the plan, just call customer care.
We are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. eastern time. You can always, email us at service at our legal.com. For your particular, account, the access code in our website is 17968Q and the website is our ugly google.com backslash. My info. You also have a, a, a link through the Cornell benefits, boundary benefits site as well too. Your open enrollment period is October 27th through December 31st, 2025, and coverage is effective January 1st, 2026. Again, the cost year plan is $23.25 monthly, $10.73 bi weekly, or $11.63 semi monthly.
I've got a couple of frequently asked questions that are included in here as well too. So we do have you know, we are an insurance company, so there could be preexisting conditions. And what we're looking at, from that perspective, is the date, the initiation date of the, citation, written notice of legal dispute, something that's been filed or received by you or the date that you've hired an attorney. So in the example of a ticket or a citation, so say today you're not if you're not a member of the plan, you don't you're not enrolled in this coverage and you get a traffic ticket. Not that I'm jinxing anybody, but say you get a traffic ticket in December for that matter then. And your coverage effective date is January 1st, 2026. Because that initiation or the citation date ticket date was in December of 2025, that is considered preexisting, now, preexisting matters, as long as they're not something that are excluded from the plan, we still can offer you some level of assistance. You can talk with an attorney, a network attorney regarding it. And then they will offer you a discount off their hourly rate of at least 25% so you can get assistance. It's not going to be fully covered, by the plan, as it would if it had occurred, during or after your effective date of coverage. But at least you still have the ability to get some assistance related to that. know, what costs are covered. So the plan covers the attorney fees. So anything that would be related to the attorney's time that is billed to our rug, they're not going to give you a bill. The plan doesn't cover what we call hard costs. So it's filing fees, court costs, fines, copy fees, things like that. So again, the example with the traffic ticket go to court, don't negotiate. You don't pay for you. They'll represent you in court at the end. If there's a court cost and a fine that is something that you have to pay. So we don't cover that portion. What if an issue isn't covered by the plan? So again, this is an insurance policy. There are specific endorsements that are covered by the policy. As long as something, isn't excluded, if it's not a named endorsement in the plan and it's not specifically excluded, then again, the plan will offer you, a consultation and a discount of at least 25% with the network attorney. And you will know definitely, when you talk with customer care, you go through the member portal or use the mobile app. You'll know, to what level of coverage you have for that specific item or for specific legal matter. They will definitely explain that to you and explain your options. then can you use attorneys outside of the network? Absolutely. If you've got a relationship with a non network attorney you're more than welcome to use them. You know similar to your medical plan when you stay in network you have greater benefits. Same thing with the legal plan. When you stay in network and use a network attorney. Then the plan will cover most things at 100%. Again. When you use the a non network attorney, then the plan is only going to reimburse you based on indemnity schedule. So there'll be a list in the certificate of insurance. It'll tell you how much we would reimburse you based on each legal issue. Also, when you use a non network attorney, that is the only time you are going to have to fill out a claim form. You want to certainly again, make sure that you're going to customer care to understand what extent coverage is available to you. And then you'll need to pay that attorney directly. They'll bill you and then you'll need to complete, a claim form with us, and they'll be doing a copy of the bill and specifics about the case and things like that. And then you send that back to our rag, and then you'll be reimbursed based on the indemnity schedule. That's for that particular legal issue. And reimbursement is relatively quick from that perspective as well. To. And then if you happen to leave the university, you certainly in your and the day that you leave, you're enrolled in the legal insurance plan. Once we're notified of that through the file, we will send, you a notification saying your coverage is ended underneath the plan. And then we will offer you, the ability to continue with this on a direct basis. In one of our two plan designs, we have an ultimate advisor and Ultimate Advisor. Plus, the Ultimate Advisor plan is around $20. And the plus plan is I think it's just shy of $30. But it does give you the ability to continue with this on a direct basis for as short of a period or as long as period as you need. And then if you, you know, if you happen to have a plan member happens to pass away, we will offer a waiver premium for their spouse and dependents for a period of a year from the date of death. Just because you will have legal issues or they will have legal issues that are really taken care of. And same thing with the deployment. If you're deployed on active duty, we will also waiver a premium for that time period as well to and there you go. That's it. If you have any other questions, please let us know. We're here to help. Again. Call customer care. They're great source of information. And thank you very much for your time today.
