Rennells was one of six Cornell building care professionals recognized for outstanding dedication to their craft at the 2022 Bartels Awards for Custodial Service Excellence, held Dec. 20 in Barton Hall.
The celebration focused on a central theme—continuing to serve after the military. Mark Minton, President of the Cornell Undergraduate Veterans Association, was invited to speak about his journey to Cornell and share his thoughts on the topic.
Nineteen individuals and three teams received President’s Awards for Employee Excellence – including a new award, Culture of Sustainability – during a celebration held Nov. 15 in Barton Hall and online.
More than 100 nominations were received, recognizing 150 employees whose work crosses the university in the areas of building care, employee well-being, student services, financial affairs, information technology, and various colleges and academic units.
The donation was part of efforts by Denise Hubbard, inventory coordinator for Student and Campus Life (SCL), to reduce waste from Cornell’s residential buildings and, whenever possible, provide for those in need. Since beginning her position at Cornell in 2018, she has coordinated the donation of 6,650 items, mostly to local nonprofits, and has arranged the repair of more than 2,400 items for reuse on campus, either rehoming them or storing them for future use.
