Workday Learning for Power Users

Workday Learning is on the way!

The University is steadily advancing towards the launch of Workday Learning, our new learning experience platform.  It is set to be released in early fall, with careful consideration of start of semester activities.

Workday Learning will replace CU Learn, the University’s existing learning management system, and will connect employees and external learners with their required training and other learning opportunities directly within our current Workday platform.

A project implementation team of employees, including Learning Administrators, from colleges and units across campus is working through the steps for implementing. In the next weeks, we will be moving into the testing phase. We will also begin offering informational demos to share more about what is coming and listen to user questions/concerns.

Some initial wins for learning administrators that have surfaced are:

  • Individual customization: Workday Learning will connect a learner’s employment data to their learning record, enabling tailored content recommendation based on individual needs.
  • Learning campaigns: Learning Admins can build campaigns (bulk course assignment) with customized messages for their audiences.
  • Reporting efficiency: Visibility and adherence to compliance with advanced reporting in Workday so that Learning Admins can take immediate action as needed.

Stay tuned for more details

In the coming weeks, we will be sharing periodic updates regarding the timeline, launch date, training sessions, and details on the ‘cutover’ transition plan. We will also be offering ongoing informational demo sessions to learn more.

FAQs

I need to add a new course for the fall - should I wait, or do I need to do anything special due to this upcoming change?

  • No, you should move forward with ‘business as usual.’ If you need to add a new course, please continue adding courses in CU Learn.

Should I be cleaning or updating my existing course data in preparation for the transition?

  • This is not required as our plan is to move all existing data and we have started this activity, however, if you do wish to do minor clean-up you can continue as usual, and we will be able to monitor and load the updated courses. We will be sharing cutoff deadlines closer to go-live when the final course data will be exported from Saba (CU Learn) into Workday Learning to help you prepare.

Will historical data currently in CU Learn be available in Workday Learning or do I need to run reports in advance to preserve this information?

  • Yes, historical data, including transcript information, will be available in Workday Learning as part of our initial go-live. No extra preparation is needed on your part.

My unit has unique needs and/or integrations, should I share these requirements?

  • At go-live, we will be transitioning content and integrations that are currently in CU Learn. Our team is carefully reviewing and analyzing this data and should questions arise, we will reach out to the course owners directly.
